Come to the Aerie this Friday, May 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m., for a pasta entree, a salad, garlic bread, and cookie for $12.  Other events in May are listed below.
 
The bartenders have reported a rise in unpaid bills.  Please remember to settle your account before leaving the Rathskeller.
 
 
There are new signs in the parking lot indicating spots reserved for nearby businesses that pay us a rental fee.  Please do not park there between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Help needed!!

We need a lot more help for our dinner Friday and Bloody Mary breakfast on Sunday or we will have to cancel. We especially need another grillmaster to help cook steaks. One person can't do it, and all our regulars are unavailable. Please talk to a trustee or send an email to trusteesfoe871@gmail.com if you are able to help out.

May is packed with good food and good times.  Bring a friend and join us for as many events as possible.  And remember to volunteer an hour of your time to help set up, serve meals, or clean up.  Or show off your culinary skills by cooking a meal on Friday, May 30.  We count on our members and are grateful for your generous support.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Bubba Merker Walk Sunday to raise money for heart disease research.  30th Anniversary collared shirts are available for purchase for $20 while supplies last.
 
We have two more great events this week.

Monday, April 22; 8:00 p.m. -- Legends of Jazz Vinyl Night.  Be amazed as the Rathskeller is transformed to the coolest jazz club featuring the greatest jazz artists of all time.  A fantasy performance!
 
Friday, April 26; 5:30-7:30 p.m. --  Shrimp and Wings.  Order your choice of shrimp (fried or spiced) and chicken wings along with corn and coleslaw.  Price varies from $10-$15 depending on your order.  Please give an hour to help set up, serve meals, or clean up.

Ribeye dinner and more!

Our delicious ribeye dinner is back on the menu for Friday, April 19; 5:30-7:30 pm.  Enjoy a steak grilled to order with a baked potato, tossed salad, and sauteed mushrooms and onions for $25.  Please volunteer your time to help set up, serve, or clean up. Then on Sunday, April 21, we will host the 30th Annual Bubba Merker Walk Fundraiser.    FOE 871 has been raising money for heart disease research in memory of our Past Worthy President, Bubba Merker, for three decades. Meet at the Rathskeller at 9:00 a.m. to walk to the Potomac River and back.  Lunch will be served afterwards to all partici[pants  See Don Jenkins, Jean Oliver or Abigail Hopkins for pledge forms.

We still have an opening for anyone who wants to cook dinner this Friday, April 12.  Anyone want to show off their mom's recipe for meatloaf?  Cook up a big pot of chili or tortilla soup?  Email the trustees at trusteesfoe871@gmail.com if interested.
 
On another matter, the Aerie rents parking spaces in our lot during the week to bring in much needed funds. Please don't park in the marked spaces from Monday-Friday between 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

We have steak and eggs (and hotdogs) this weekend -- but not on the same day!  Read on for details and please sign up to help with the meals.  We especially need volunteers to help clean up.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
 
Spring has sprung and the FOE 871 is bursting with activities through the month of April. 
 
Please join us for as many events as possible and volunteer to help out with meals where you can.  Steak dinners require about 15 hours of member help; shrimp and wing around 10; and Bloody Mary breakfast about 40 hours. This is in addition to the time donated by trustees and officers for these meals.  As a membership organization, everyone is expected to do their part.  And it's a great way to meet other members and learn more about the organization. 
 
Volunteers are recognized by name and hours contributed on a board in the Rathskeller.
MARCH 2024
March Madness Specials.  Stop by the Aerie to watch the NCAA Basketball Tournament and enjoy $2.00 hot dogs and ice cold Budweisers - $2.50 each or a bucket of 5 for $10. (Available during the game only while they last!)

The Ladies Auxiliary will be serving this delicious meal from 5:30-7:30 for $20. Two meals and a Parade

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We have a packed schedule for this weekend.  So many opportunities to see friends, eat good meals, and spread the word about the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
 
1)  Friday, March, 1; 5:30-7:30. Steak Night.  You know the drill!  A 14-ounce steak with baked potato, tossed salad, and sauteed mushrooms and onions for $25. 2)  Saturday, March 2; St. Patrick's Day Parade.  Once again FOE 871 will be carrying our banner and reminding Alexandria about our wonderful organization. Meet at St. Asaph between Duke and King Streets between 11:00-11:45. (Look for the big eagle float.)  The parade begins at 12:30.  We will have candy and dog treats to hand out to the crowd.  NOTE:  The Aerie is opening at normal time, 12:00.

30th Annual Heart Walk 4/21/2024

Eagle Brothers,

ALVA Aerie and Auxiliary #871 will be having their 30h Annual Heart Walk, honoring Bubba Merker. The date will be April 21, 2024. Bubba Merker was a past president of ALVA Aerie #871. He passed away at a young age of a massive heart attack. Since then we had held this walk to honor him.

As in the past, it is our hope that this one will be our most successful. The walkers leave the Aerie at 9am. The walk covers approximately 5 miles.

Please consider supporting this worthy event. All proceeds go to the Grand Aerie earmarked for the Max Baer Heart Fund.
