St. Patty Day Parade 3/1/2024

The Fraternal Order of Eagles #871 will walk in the St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, March 1. The Aerie will open at 11:00 for coffee and doughnuts. The parade starts at 12:30, but we have to be in place by 12:00. We will be given the exact location by February 25.

We need someone with an SUV to carry our eagle float and lead us, as well as three members to carry the flag and banner. We will have candy, dog treats, and more to hand out to the crowd. You don't have to sign up to participate, but it would help us in our planning.

Come to the Aerie this weekend for good food and fellowship. Please click on the links to volunteer to help set up, serve, or clean up.

We're serving our delicious 12-ounce steak dinner with baked potato, tossed salad, and sauteed mushrooms and onions for $20 this Friday, February 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. VoluntEAGLES: Steak Night - February 7, 2025. That will be followed by a Super Bowl Party on Sunday, February 9. Coverage of the game begins at 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on any of our six TV's. Bring a dish to share and be ready to cheer for your team.

The Aerie and Auxiliary of ALVA #871 is collecting New and Very Gently used Socks and Tee-Shirts from February 1^st until February 28^th. collected will be donated to the Carpenter Shelter located on Henry Street, Alexandria. The need is great for all sizes

We have a new Champion! Please congratulate Justin Thomas for winning the 2025 Chili Cook Off!

Last year's winner, Micky Hansen, passes on the chili necklace to this year's top place contestant, Jason Thomas!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Annual Chili Cookoff! Top honors went to Jason Thomas, second place to Rory McCall, and third place to Steve Ruff.

Thanks to all the cooks who submitted their dishes; to the judges -- Julie Conway, Jon Reedy, and Pam Williams; and to all the members who came to cheer them on and enjoy the chili.

Shrimp, Wings, and a Chili Cookoff

Brothers and Sisters,

We have a lot of good food at the Aerie this weekend starting Friday, January 24, between 5:30-7:30 pm with chicken wings and shrimp, spiced or fried, corn and coleslaw for $12-$15. VoluntEAGLES: Shrimp & Wing Night -- January 24, 2025 .

The annual Chili Cookoff returns this Sunday, January 29, at 2:00. We still have slots left for cooks who would like to show off their culinary skills and get a shot at the coveted chili pepper necklace or other prizes. Sign up in the Rathskeller or send a message to trusteesfoe871@gmail.com if you want to compete. You must bring the chili in your own crock pot by 1:45. After the judging, all members are invited to dig in and make their own choices for just $5.

Our menu for this Friday has changed. We are serving spaghetti with sides for $12 from 5:30-7:30. Get out of the cold and join us for a delicious dinner.

The parking lot has been plowed and the Rathskeller is operating at normal hours this week.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Let's bid farewell to 2024 and welcome 2025 with an unforgettable celebration! Starting at 8:00 pm Tuesday in the Rathskeller we will have

🎵 Live acoustic guitar performance by John Gossart from 9pm-1am.

🍽️ A potluck feast—bring your favorite dish to share!

🎟️ 50/50 drawing & a raffle for some extra excitement.

🥂 A sparkling champagne toast at midnight to ring in the New Year in style.

🎊 Bring your friends, your party spirit, and your resolutions. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Come back Wednesday, New Year's Day, to watch your favorite games on one of our six TVs. Please bring a dish to share.

The Board of Trustees hope you are looking forward to a happy and warm holiday week with loved ones. The Rathskeller will open at 5:00 pm on Christmas Day for those who wish to celebrate with their brothers and sisters.

Here is what is happening at FOE 871 in December.

On Tuesday, December 17, at 8:00 pm, our very own DJ Dana Shafie will be spinning Christmas records. There will be an Ugly Sweater Contest and an Elephant Gift Exchange. Bring a present up to $20 to participate.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

You don't want to miss our big celebrations at the Aerie this month. Join us this Saturday, December 14, for our annual Christmas Party.. Festivities begin at 5:00 pm with a reception, followed by dinner, and live music from Barco Beat. Bring an appetizer or dessert if you can. This event is free and open to members only.

We will continue celebrating the season on Tuesday, December 17, at 8:00 pmwith Vinyl Night playing Christmas favorites. There will be an Ugly Sweater Contest and an Elephant Gift Exchange. Bring a wrapped gift up to $20 to participate.

Finally, we will bid farewell to 2024 and welcome 2025 with an unforgettableNew Year's Eve celebrationon Tuesday, December 31, beginning at 8:00 pm. We will have a live acoustic guitar performance by John Gossart from 9pm-1am, raffles, and a champagne toast at midnight. Bring a dish for a potluck feast.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is a lot happening at the Aerie between now and the end of the year. Check out the schedule below for a list of all the activities and volunteer opportunities. Remember that we count on members to help set up, serve meals, and clean up afterwards. Volunteers are invited to nominate a charity of their choice to receive a $500 donation if their slip is chosen at the end of the month.

The Aerie will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, reopening on Friday, November 29, at noon. Let a trustee know if you are interested in providing a meal that Friday. Also, let us know if you can provide food on NFL Sundays. trusteesfoe871@gmail.com

ANNUAL NON-PERISHABLE FOOD COLLECTION

The Aerie and Auxiliary donated 329 pounds of various Non-Perishable food to the United Community Ministries.

United Community Ministries is a private, nonprofit, community-based social service agency. It provides many services including child care, homeless and child abuse prevention programs, as well as food, clothing, furniture, infant supplies, medical needs, and as well as many other services. This donation could not have been made without the support of you AERIE and AUXILIARY MEMBERS!!!!!
