Updates and Thanks!

Brothers and Sisters,

Thanks to everyone who came to the Aerie last Saturday for the Crab Feast. 102 diners enjoyed crabs, hotdogs, hamburgers, hush puppies, and corn. Special thanks to the folks who helped set up the hall, prepare food, serve crabs, and clean up.

Looking forward, we have more events that members should put on their calendars.

This Friday, August 25, we are serving shrimp (spiced or fried), wings, coleslaw and corn from 5:30-7:30. Prices from $10-$15 depending on your order. Sign up here for a short shift to help with prep, serving, or cleanup. VoluntEAGLES: Shrimp & Wing Night - August 25 (signupgenius.com)

Next Friday, September 1, is steak night with our delicious 14-ounce ribeye, baked potato, salad, sauteed mushrooms and onions. All for just $25. Again, we need your help.

NOTE: September's Bloody Mary Breakfast has been moved to September 10 due to our cooks' schedules. The Board of Trustees encourages any interested members to come in for a breakfast to learn what is involved. We need to broaden our bench of chefs!

The Board of Trustees appreciates everyone who has volunteered in the past and those who continue to do so.

Brothers and Sisters,

We still need a lot of help if we are going to have a successful Bloody Mary breakfast this Sunday, August 13.

Please sign up for a one to two-hour shift to help set up or serve meals.  Not a morning person?  Come down at 11:00 to help us put away food, wipe down tables, dry, and put away dishes.

Many of our regular volunteers are out of town, so we really need new people to step up and help out.

Remember that all volunteers are recognized and thanked on our board beside the chips and candy shelf.

Will your name be on there?  VoluntEAGLES: Bloody Mary Breakfast -- August 13 (signupgenius.com)

And come down on Friday between 5:30-7:30 for Mary's stuffed peppers, salad, and bread for $12.

Steak Dinner 8/4/2023 - NO Breakfast 8/6/2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We will be serving our delicious ribeye steak dinner this Friday, August 4, from 5:30-7:30.  Enjoy a 14-ounce steak with baked potato, salad, sauteed mushrooms and onions for only $25.  And sign up for a one hour shift to help set up, serve meals, or clean  up.  VoluntEAGLES: Steak Night - August 4, 2023 (signupgenius.com)

Unfortunately, we won't be able to offer our Bloody Mary Breakfast on Sunday, August 6, because our regular cooks are out of town and no one else volunteered to cook.  We can possibly reschedule for the following Sunday, August  13, IF we get another volunteer cook and a full slate of other helpers.  Please follow this link to let us know if you can help prepare food, serve meals, or clean up.  VoluntEAGLES: Bloody Mary Breakfast -- August 13 (signupgenius.com)

Remember that we are a membership organization, and the only paid employees are the bartenders.  Therefore, we rely on members to step up and help us put on our regular monthly meals and special events such as the crab pick coming up on August 19.

The Board of Trustees appreciates everyone who has helped in the past and those who continue to volunteer.

FOE 871 Clean up Photos!

There was a small but mighty group of 16 volunteers who spent Saturday morning making tremendous improvements to the Aerie.  Work accomplished included: pulling weeds and overgrowth from the parking lot, surrounding fence, and window wells; digging out the clogged drain leading to Route One to prevent flooding; thorough cleaning of the chairs, stools, tables, and liquor lockers; scrubbing the beer keg cooler and downstairs refrigerator; and wiping down counters, mirrors and other spaces behind the bar.

Come admire the hard work and say thank you to Dwight Barnes, Beverly Bell, Rich Brune, Reed Diehl, Steve Elliott, Pam Ferguson, Mickey and Valerie Hansen, Tracy Kidd, Blair Larkins, Jeff Livingston, Steven Mecartney, Rabeya Rahman, Don Sexton, Pam Williams and Paul Zanowski.  Thanks to Trish and Terry Enright for delivering lunch.

Here are a few photos from the event!

We hope to schedule another workday in the fall.  Stay tuned.

It's time for our annual "Back to School Supplies". Don Jenkins and Jean Oliver will collect and distribute to three different schools in Alexandria.

Here are a few suggestions: backpacks, pencils, paper, notebooks, folders, erasers, glue, crayons, hand sanitizer, and whatever else you think kids might need.

We thank you for your continued support.
